before and after

In April of 2014 I received a phone call while waiting at the bus stop in downtown Minneapolis. It was a spring day, just before Easter, and that call would soon become a defining moment in my life and in our story. I didn't know it at the time, but as I stepped onto bus 25N and quickly Googled "multiple sclerosis," a line was drawn in the sands of time. That bus ride was my last 'before' activity. Scrolling through the list of MS symptoms, I could not deny what I was reading. That bus ride marked the end of life as I knew it. Stepping off the bus, walking down Stinson Boulevard and into a future I now knew included a progressive disease, was the beginning of life 'after'. Was I ready? It didn't matter. Was I equipped? Hell, no. Was I loved, supported and covered in prayer? Every single step of the way.
